What is monday.com?

Monday.com is a customisable work-management platform that can operate on computer and mobile devices. Its offers seamless work management across all business departments. The results are efficiency, coordination, collaboration and easy management.

The Journey from Inception to Date

The platform was started in 2012 by Eran Kampf, Roy Mann and Eran Zinman. It started as Dapulse, getting $1.5 million in seed funding in August 2012. However, they had to wait until 2014 to launch the platform.

With time, the company attracted venture capital firms, including Genesis Partners, Entrée Capital, Insight Venture Partners and Stripes Group. Dapulse rebranded to Monday.com in November 2017 and has grown the brand to where it is.

Throughout its development, Monday.com improved its systems based on the evolving work environment. It offered a simplified way to manage teams while opening up the business model to people within the system. The outcome is team productivity, transparent work culture and greater team engagement.

As of July 2019, Monday.com was valued at $1.9 billion, officially making it a Unicorn. The company reported a jump in its customer base, recording over 200 companies and 1277,000 customers.

Monday.com’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed; winning the 2020 Webby Award for business excellence under the Apps, Mobile and Voice category. The company went public on 10th June 2021.

Monday.com Business Model

The platform offers end-to-end project and business management, linking all vital departments to the centre. From project management to marketing, sales, HR, operations and creative design, everyone within the company is connected.

Every task done by team members fits into the system where anyone with permission within the process map can access.

Each member in the team does their part and passes the button to the next within the process. The outcome is a product of team synergy; developing products using the different talents in a business setting.

At the management level, decision-makers can use data from the project or business to analyse and make informed decisions. Monday.com offers a central place where every resource in the organisation derives their operational process. They are cogs in a business process and must fulfil their mandate to complete the project, task or product.
